November 16th, 2000
President: Helen Burch
The meeting was opened by President Helen Burch, with the pledge
led by Miriam Paluch. Don Chenoweth led us in prayer. Guests included
Hilary Heustis and Mike Doberzeneicki, U of IL football teammate of Mason
Minnes. Helen, Ellen, and Bob entertained us with their jokes. A board
meeting was held prior to the regular meeting. President Helen will pursue
the placement of a banner on the Jolly Roger building announcing our
meeting place.
Illness Report
Jack is getting better. Glenn is going to get to go home Friday
the 17th. Chuck is living at his daughters. Evelyn is working half time
and perhaps going back for additional surgery. We wish these members good
progress in pursuit of their health. Keep fighting!
Phone Tree
A phone tree will be started and manned by Miriam, Marianna, Don,
Eleanor, Mason, and Helen. Judy Pece is in charge of this undertaking.
Christmas Trees
The 600+ Christmas trees arrived. The work to sell them is
progressing. The club needs your help. We are inside a tent and out of
the wind and weather. Tell your friends about our beautiful trees. More
light is inside the tents this year. We are donating a tree to Lutheran
Social Services for a needy family.
Program
Hilary Heustis, American Cancer Field Representative, informed us
of their many programs including Road to Recovery, Reach to Recovery, Man
to Man Side to Side, Look Good Feel Better, Active for Life, Generation
Fit, Relay for Life, and information about current research being

Christmas Party
The Christmas Party will be December 21. Joan will provide the
meat and one potato dish. Those attending are asked to bring a casserole, a
salad or a dessert. There will be a gift exchange with a $10 suggested gift
price. Mark your gift for male or female. Gather at 6:00 at 305 Brady
Lane in Urbana. We will eat at 6:30 pm.
The door prizes were won by Marianna Janssen and Miriam Paluch.
The meeting closed with the OI creed.
